Defeat boredom with a new hobby
24 August 2021
Is there a hobby you’ve always wanted to start but never had the time to? Well now might just be the perfect time to start!
Hobbies are great for learning new skills, helping you relax and take your mind of everyday stress – which would be good for all of us right now under the current circumstances. Here’s a few ideas to get the ball rolling:
Watch a film
Make a list of must-see films that you haven’t seen, afterwards write down a small summary about what you thought and a rating out of ten. Once you’ve done a few you’ll start to become a real critic!
Play an instrument
That dusty guitar you have sitting at the back of the attic might actually come in some use. There are plenty of tutorials online, on YouTube and loads of inexpensive books you can buy to help learn. If you already know how to play an instrument, practice makes perfect!
Gardening
Gardening is a great hobby because not only is it entertaining, but can also be very therapeutic and fulfilling.
Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking is a great for being crafty as well as keeping any tickets, photos or keepsakes all in one place.
Teach yourself a new language
There are loads of lessons online, podcasts and apps you can get to help you learn a new language. Try putting a time for practicing into your diary every week to help remind you!
Photography
All you need is a camera or a smartphone and you’ll be able to start snapping away. Try being artistic with new ways of using angles and lighting.
Stargazing
Learn where each star is in the sky and find out more them. This is a fantastic way to connect with nature and it’s free to do!
Teach your pet tricks
Most pets know the basic commands like ‘sit’, so why not try others like ‘play dead’ or ‘roll over’.
